Independent journalist Amy McVay Abbott, whose grew up in South Whitley, has written her first book. “The Luxury of Daydreams” highlights 30 humorous and inspirational essays about life in rural Indiana in the last century, as well as modern life in a small town in southern Indiana.

On Tuesday, February 8, 2011 a delegation of Marian University students travelled to the Indiana State House to join students from Indiana's independent colleges and universities for a lobbying day.They spoke with legislators about how vital their state-based financial aid has been, and urge continued funding.

Saint Mary’s College will be the proud recipient of a rare Heritage Edition of The Saint John's Bible. On Wednesday, August 25, the Bible will be presented to Saint Mary's College and blessed at the Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit, the annual liturgy marking the opening of the academic year. The closest locations to South Bend that have a reproduction of The Saint John's Bible are Marquette University in Milwaukee and John Carroll University in Cleveland.
